Montreal, April 27, 2015 – The Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) is worried for the future of our English-speaking students and community in Québec following a very difficult first meeting with the Minster of Education François Blais.
“The Minister indicated that our current electoral system is finished,” said QESBA President David D’Aoust. “We have held lengthy discussions with our members, and the answer is simple: we will never give up our elections or our minority rights.”
QESBA is confirming that Me Michael Bergman, expert in all matters of minority rights under the Canadian Constitution is now representing QESBA.
“QESBA has always been ready to openly discuss ways in which to improve our system for the sake of our students,” continued D’Aoust. “Abolishing our elected system has absolutely no benefit to the classroom or our community,” concluded D’Aoust.
ESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec.
