Montreal, September 13, 2018 – The Board of Directors of the Québec English School Boards Association (QESBA) elected Dan Lamoureux, Chair of the Riverside School Board, as President and James Shea, Chair of the Western Québec School Board, as Vice-President during a regular meeting of the Board of Directors last Friday in Montreal.
Mr. Lamoureux has been Acting President since the resignation of Jennifer Maccarone last month to run in the current Québec Election. The Board elected to name Mr. Lamoureux to complete the current term, which matures in the fall of 2019.
“English-Language education and institutions are pivotal to our minority community and I look forward to working closely with our new Vice-President, Executive Director, Board of Directors, Staff and our nine English-Language member school boards over the next year for the ultimate benefit of our students and our system,” said the President.
“QESBA thanks the Immediate Past-President, Jennifer Maccarone, for her service and passionate defense of English public education. Her efforts over the last three years have benefitted all of our institutions and communities across Québec,” concluded the President.
QESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec and represents 100,000 students in 340 elementary, high schools, and adult and vocational centres across Québec.
