Montreal, December 5, 2023 – The Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has unanimously named David Meloche, as their new Executive Director.

Mr. Meloche is a career pedagogue of 32 years with the Lester B. Pearson School Board. He is currently on loan to the Comité patronal de négociation pour les commissions scolaires anglophones (CPNCA) as the QESBA representative at the teacher table. Over the last 12 years, he served as Regional Director responsible for the eastern-most schools of the school board. He has been recognized by the English education sector for his leadership, innovation and community involvement. He is the co-founder of the first pediatric training school-based clinic in partnership with McGill University and Montreal Children’s Hospital.

“Mr. Meloche has the educational experience and the knowledge to guide this Association based on the goals the Board of Directors has established over the last number of years. He comes to QESBA right after his two years as a negotiator for the employers with the CPNCA. The Association will be able to grow and move forward under his leadership,” said Joe Ortona, president of QESBA.

“I am delighted to be joining the QESBA team as Executive Director. Education has been my lifelong commitment, I recognize the importance of providing high quality bilingual education. Our school boards are essential institutions to the English-speaking community. I am looking forward to working with the elected commissioners who make up the Board of the QESBA, the Director Generals of school boards and the QESBA staff to ensure the vitality and continued excellence of public English education for our students and the community” concluded Mr. Meloche.

QESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec and represents 100,000 students in 340 elementary, high schools, and adult and vocational centres across Québec.
