Montreal, October 5, 2017 – The Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) salutes the 8,000 teachers of Quebec’s English public schools for the guidance, inspiration and direction they provide to our students each day and at every level across the province. Today is International Teacher Recognition Day, an occasion to remind all Quebecers to value and support the pivotal role played by teachers in the lives of our children and thus, in the shaping of our collective future.

Teachers play an integral role in the lives of our children. Transferring knowledge and shaping skills are only part of the job, and at the current pace of change, that is challenge enough. Finding time to manage diverse levels of ability, to motivate, to serve as coach, confidante, and role model are some of the many reasons teachers should be championed every day,” said QESBA President Jennifer Maccarone.

QESBA and its member boards are there to ensure that our teachers are equipped with the expertise, resources, and training to weave their daily magic. As we strive to meet that responsibility, we salute them for deciding to enter the teaching profession and for honoring that choice, and our children with their effort, compassion and commitment to excellence.

QESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec and represents 100,000 students in 340 elementary, high schools, and adult and vocational centres across Québec.
